ncan support groups – new york chapter

Meet Andrea

I am a Practicing Registered Nurse in NYS. My husband of 29 years, was diagnosed with a Pancreatic Neuroendocrine tumor in September of 2013. This diagnosis came after close to 10 years of episodic abdominal pain that sent him to emergency rooms for evaluation. At the time of his diagnosis, it was found that there were innumerable liver metastases. This, as you can imagine, sent our world into a tail spin. Over the next few months, I set out on a mission to find out all I could about this insidious disease. He was evaluated locally, as well as at 3 other institutions on the East coast to determine the best course of treatment. He has had liver directed therapy, surgery to remove the primary tumor, and systemic chemotherapy.

ABOUT OUR GROUP

NCAN Chapter Support Group meetings are built on the concept of patients helping patients.

Our meetings are all about getting to know people who understand exactly what you’re going through, and about getting you the most up-to-date information on NET testing, treatment options, and lifestyle tips.

I am taking the reign of this group from it’s amazing founder, who is also a patient. She saw the need to have a place for patients and their caregivers to gather for support, education and sharing of each other’s journeys.

We hope you decide to JOIN US at an upcoming meeting…we look so forward to meeting you!
