Meet Leah

My name is Leah Martensen. I have been in medical office management and administration for over 29 years. I have also toured as a singer/songwriter and recording artist for 20 years. I am also a fluid painting artist.
In 2011 I went in to have a hysterectomy and when I woke up I was told that I had a Neuroendocrine tumor in my ileum area. They removed about 12 inches of my intestines. I had no clue I was even sick. I had what I thought was IBS symptoms starting in my 20’s and flushing as far back as junior high school. 2013 I start Sandostatin shots. 2014 I had a liver resection and September 2020 I started PRRT. I have lived a fairly normal life even with symptoms. I am very grateful!
My goal as a leader is to bring HOPE to NET patients. There is life after a NET diagnosis when you surround yourself with people who can help, support and care for you. Knowledge is the key to making the best choices throughout your journey and I would love to cheer you on.

ABOUT OUR GROUP

NCAN Chapter Support Group meetings are built on the concept of patients helping patients.

Our meetings are all about getting to know people who understand exactly what you’re going through, and about getting you the most up-to-date information on NET testing, treatment options, and lifestyle tips.

Meetings are open to all fellow carcinoid/NETS Cancer patients, caregivers, family members and their friends. We come together to share our concerns and support each other. We also learn ways to educate ourselves and raise awareness of our disease.

We hope you decide to JOIN US at an upcoming meeting…we look so forward to meeting you!
