Meet Tom<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Tom is the leader of the Wisconsin Neuroendocrine Cancer Connection group.\u00a0 Tom and his wife Lynn live in Neenah, WI, just south or Green Bay. Tom was \u2018introduced\u2019 to neuroendocrine cancer in April 2015 when his wife Lynn was scanned for breast discomfort (which turned out to be nothing) and a spot on the liver was noticed and biopsied. She had been reporting symptoms for 5+ years \u2013 all diagnosed as menopause, IBS, etc. Very typical. Her site source is her ileum (small bowel) which had metastasized to her liver. She\u2019s had two debulking surgeries resulting in \u2018no evidence of disease\u2019 for a short period before developing into 50 liver tumors.\u00a0 Several years later she was also diagnosed with carcinoid heart disease as a result of the serotonin from the tumors.<\/span><\/h6>\n
The Wisconsin Neuroendocrine Cancer Connection group is for NETs patients living in Wisconsin.\u00a0 We have monthly meetings in Appleton and occasional meetings in Kenosha.\u00a0 We are looking for someone to set up meetings in the Milwaukee and Madison areas.\u00a0 If you are interested, please contact me.\u00a0 Our group can be helpful to discuss all aspects of NETs including national specialists and resources within the State of Wisconsin which our members are familiar with.\u00a0<\/span><\/h6>\n

Did you know that there are likely over 3,000 individuals with NETs living in the State of Wisconsin!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Our meetings are about getting to know others who understand exactly what you\u2019re going through, and about getting you the most up-to-date information on NET testing, treatment options and local medical resources within the State.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Up until 2023, there were no NET specialists in the State of Wisconsin – that was until Dr. Phan joined Froedert.<\/strong><\/em> There are however excellent clinics and doctors who currently work with specialists from other clinics. We will also share lifestyle tips, dealing with insurance issues and denials, preparing for and recovering from surgery, etc.<\/p>\n
